Hydrocarbon management publications   The Energy Institute

At various stages during the extraction, transportation, refining, storage, distribution of petroleum and its products, there is a requirement to measure its quantity for allocation, custody transfer and fiscal purposes. In addition such measurements are needed for stock control and loss prevention. To enable the oil industry and the regulators to carry out such measurements in a standardized manner the Hydrocarbon Management Committee, its Sub-committees and Work Groups develop guidance documents based on current best industry practice. Wherever possible these documents are developed in conjunction with the American Petroleum Institute and published as jointly badged EI/API hydrocarbon management documents that can be used internationally.
